Afterschool
The purpose of the After School Program at New Heights Charter School is to provide a program that is safe, educational, engaging and improves academic performance. The program is open every day that school is in session and is available from the time school ends until 6:15 p.m. (A few days each year, the program may be closed for staff to engage in planning.) There is no charge for participation and enrollment is open to all the students of New Heights, subject to the limitations imposed by program capacity.
Snacks are an important component of the after school program. Students are offered a healthy snack each day.
The afterschool program includes both an academic component and an enrichment component. Students may have time for homework and/or reading, computer time, and time to explore the arts.
Different art programs are offered each year including such activities as:
- Visual arts: painting, drawing, sculpture
- Dance: hip hop, Latin dance,
- Crafts
- Drama
- STEM
Before School
The purpose of the Before School Program at New Heights Charter School is to provide a safe place for students to come in the morning, have a healthy breakfast, and engage in extra academic work on the computer (if needed). The program is open every day that school is in session and is available from 7:00 am until school starts. There is no charge for participation and enrollment is open to all the students of New Heights. Academic groups are created based on teacher recommendations and academic performance
New Heights offers Summer School each year, starting late June to July. The Summer School is open to all current students, but preference is given to students who need extra support in academics. Teachers will refer students to summer school based on classroom performance.
New Heights offers intersession for all students Tk-8 during fall and winter break from 7:00am-4:00pm. Please check with school office for intersession dates for each school year.
