Teaching American History Grant
What is the Teaching American History project? TAH is a federal grant program designed to raise student achievement by improving teachers' knowledge and understanding of and appreciation for traditional U.S. history. Grant awards assist schools, in partnership with entities that have content expertise, to develop, document, evaluate, and disseminate innovative and cohesive models of professional development. By helping teachers to develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of U.S. history as a separate subject matter within the core curriculum, these programs improve instruction and raise student achievement.
Who comprises the 2009-10 Teacher Cohort ? K-8 teachers from New Heights, Our Community, Los Angeles Academy of Arts and Enterprise, and Bert Corona.
Many of the participating teachers have incorporated visual art activities into their Social Studies lessons. Here are just a few of the many beautiful pieces created. Stop by soon for more images and evidence of student learning.
